Frequently asked questions
What should I expect during a Sunday service?
Our services include heartfelt worship, biblical teaching, and opportunities for prayer and ministry. We're a Spirit-filled church that welcomes the presence and work of the Holy Spirit. Whether you've attended church for years or this is your first visit, we're glad you're here!
How long are your services?
Our Sunday services typically last about 90 minutes, though they may occasionally run longer as we make room for worship, prayer, and ministry.
What should I wear?
Come as you are! You'll see everything from jeans and casual clothing to more traditional Sunday attire. There's no dress code, and we want you to feel comfortable.
Where should I park, and which entrance should I use?
Our main entrance is on SE 216th Street, with an additional entrance on Benson Avenue for those arriving from the north. Parking is available around the church, including designated accessible spaces near the front entrance for those with permits.
Visitor spots on the church side of the front lawn are marked with red "Visitor Parking" signs, and the parking lanes are marked too.
Is there something for my children?
Yes! We love families and believe children are an important part of our church. We offer age-appropriate children's ministry where kids can learn about Jesus in a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment.
What about students in 7th to 12th grade?
We believe the next generation has an important place in God's Kingdom! Our youth ministry helps students build friendships, grow in their faith, and develop a personal relationship with Jesus. Ask our welcome team about current youth gatherings and activities.
P828 Youth is for 7th to 12th grade.
Do I need to register or let someone know I'm coming?
Not at all! You're welcome to attend any of our services without registering or contacting us in advance. Just come, find a seat, and enjoy the service. We'd love the opportunity to meet you, but there's no pressure.
What is worship like at The River?
Our worship is contemporary, expressive, and centered on Jesus. You may see people raising their hands, praying, or responding in different ways as they worship. We believe worship should be genuine and heartfelt, and you're welcome to participate in whatever way you feel comfortable.
Will I be expected to give an offering?
No. While giving is part of our regular worship, visitors are never expected or pressured to contribute financially. You're our guest, and we're simply glad you've joined us.
Can I attend if I'm not a Christian or I'm exploring faith?
Absolutely! You don't have to believe what we believe or have everything figured out to be welcome at The River. Whether you're exploring Christianity, returning to church, or simply curious, there's a place for you here. We welcome sincere questions and believe everyone deserves an opportunity to encounter the love of Jesus.
