The River School of Ministry in Partnership with

The River School of Ministry (TRSOM) is designed for young adults (ages 18–29) who are ready to grow in leadership, deepen their faith, and pursue a fully accredited degree through Northwest University — all while gaining hands-on ministry training here at The River.

Students have the opportunity to earn an AA, BA, or MA degree remotely through Northwest University while also completing internship-based leadership training that applies directly to real-life ministry.

For students 30 and older, our Flex Program provides the opportunity to continue education fully online through NU, while still connecting with The River for community and support.

How to Apply

  • Step 1: Apply to Northwest University at northwestu.edu/partnership/apply.

  • Step 2: Complete The River School of Ministry application (online or paper form available at The Connection Center).

  • Step 3: Write and submit a short biographical essay (Word or PDF).

  • Step 4: Submit a Character Reference Form (from a Christian mentor or elder who knows you well, but is not a relative).

  • Step 5: Submit an Employer Reference Form (from a current or former employer).

  • Once all materials are received by The River and NU, your application will be reviewed. You’ll be contacted to schedule an interview, and a background check will be processed prior to admission.
