Baptism is a beautiful step of faith, and we’d love to walk it with you.

What is the significance of baptism?

Maybe you’ve thought about getting baptized but still have questions. Baptism is one of the most important next steps in following Jesus, and we’d love to help you understand why it matters.

Purpose & Importance

Water baptism is often called a “baptism of repentance” (Acts 19:4) because it’s a public declaration of turning from sin and choosing to follow Christ.

It began with John the Baptist, who was known for baptizing in the Jordan River. Even Jesus Himself was baptized by John at the start of His ministry (Luke 3:21). By doing this, Jesus set the example for us to follow.

Why should I be baptized?

The simplest reason: to follow Jesus.

Baptism is an outward sign of an inward change. When we are baptized, we are identifying with Jesus—His death, His burial, and His resurrection. Jesus, though sinless, was baptized to humbly identify with us and show us the way of obedience.

“At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan.” — Mark 1:9
